Default Greatest Moment in Your Life

Had my annual camping trip this weekend up in Indian Lake New York, every year for the last ten years I go up with my grade school friends to this spot on a public land by the river, it's the best 4 days of the year, anyway I was talking with my friends and we were reminiscing about our "glory years", and I got called on my "Greatest Moment", which is (sadly?) when I was 18 in a hardcore band and my band got to play at the now legendary PWAC in Long Island. We opened for a Silent Majority/Glassjaw combo band who did U2 covers, Ascension (metal gods from cleveland) and Farenheit 451 (NYHC), we had just recorded a tape and were very well received, with people already knowing my lyrics and piling on the microphone, stage diving and singing along to all of our lyrics... it made me feel finally accepted in "the scene" and for the first time in my life, genuinely happy to be alive and part of something bigger than myself. I'm 28 now, and nothing has yet to recreate that feeling, and I doubt it ever will.

Anyway, OOT, whats your greatest moment? I'm assuming there will be a lot of marriage and kids stuff, and thats ok, but if you can think of something other than that emo nonsense then go for it.

Hey Matt let's start a band

I was in a funk band in college that opened for the Toasters... that was fun
Driving demolition derbies is a sick rush
I was involved in some Quaker leadership as a kid which sounds cheesy now but I had some very rewarding experiences
Doing a Lakota sweat lodge a few years back was great
Driving cross country this summer with my girlfriend and seeing some unbelievable stuff

That's off the top of my head

Running for a 66-yard touchdown my freshman year in high school...as a defensive lineman. The opposing QB dropped back to pass, and my best friend, who was playing defensive end, charged into the backfield with his arms raised...he's about 6'4", and has these really long arms. Anyway...QB passes the ball, and my friend blocked the pass. By that time, I had broken into the backfield as well, and instinctively reached out for the ball as it fell to the ground. Somehow, I got my hands under it, bobbled it for a second, then grabbed it. I think I stared at the ball incredulously for about a half-second, before I thought, "Oh, [censored]!" I took off down the field, and was untouched for 66 yards to the end zone. The whole time I was running, I could feel the adrenaline running up and down my legs. All I could think was, "What am I doing???!!!!"

I'd love to do the band thing again, I briefly sang in a few New York hardcore bands after college, now I am too old and also I have about zero talent.

Birth of my son.

The looks on my mom and dad's face when I graduated ASU.

The looks on my mom and dad's face when I cut them a sizeable check to help begin paying off my student loans.

4th on the list hasnt happened yet, but once the divorce happens, I'll edit this post!
