Hey guys,

Ive heard people talking about a piece of software called pokertracker. What exactly is it, and what does it do? Is it worth investing in, and is it hard to use. Thanks for the help, i appreciate it.

An essetinal piece of software for anyone who plays poker with any sort of seriousness on the internet.

Is even more important for a new/beginner player.

In my opinion slightly more useful for limit play than NL play.

It basically is just application (with a built in database) that stores all your hand histories and gives you about 8 bazillion statistics about you and your opponents.

Sweet! So its basically keeps track of your opponents play, so you dont have to take notes?

Some players will tell you that you shoudl always take notes... but it does lessen the need for notes.

While it's exceptionally useful for fish identification and tracking (and game selection) the most useful thing about it is tracking your own play.

When you play proper profitable limit hold em certain key statistics converge to a range of values.

If you play a significant number of hands and notice your stats are OUTSIDE of this range then you know you have a fundamental problem with your game.

You're asking how to basically break the law on a public forum.

Also, none of us (I would hope) got anything like a keygen or a website with PT keys, we BOUGHT it. It's only $50 or $60 or whatever, and will pay for itself many hundred times over before you even know it.
