General Q: Playing bottom pair on the flop...
I was wondering how you all generally proceed if you flop bottom pair in a multi-way pot. For example, suppose you are in the big blind, there are two limpers in front of you, the small blind completes, and you check your option with A4o. The flop comes J74r.
Betting out will only get rid of worse hands, and I'll be OOP on the next two streets. So, I usually check and don't plan to invest anything without some kind of read. If the flop is checked around and the turn is an undercard, I may make a 1/2 to 3/4 pot bet. Curious to know your thoughts... |

Re: General Q: Playing bottom pair on the flop...
I might lead out depending on my image. Often times, you will pick up the pot for a 1/2 - 3/4 pot size bet when the board is fairly disconnected. Yes, you will fold out worse hands, but OOP it's not like you want to 'trap' with a weak hand like bottom pair... either try to pick up the pot or check-fold to any decent opponent. |
