Default Why aren\'t some of you guys playing higher?

I've thought about this for quite some time but never posted it. There are some of you guys who consistently beat or even destroy 5/10, 10/20 or 25/50 nl but you don't play any higher than that. Lately I've seen guys like Whitelime, CTS and a few others playing 5/10nl. I also heard a couple weeks ago that BBuddy was 9-tabling 5/10nl.

Then there was the Party Poker days where guys like Bld, Samo, lolo, BBuddy would destroy 10/20nl (prior to 25/50nl on party) but from what I understand would never play 25/50 or 50/100. I would imagine that players of their caliber would be able to handily beat at least 50/100nl. I'm pretty sure Bld would would be a clear winner versus the 100/200nl+ sh'd regs on FTP also.

So you guys who have the skills to beat higher games but choose not to play them: why not?

Im def. not one of them but this question seems easy.

1. they dont want the variance.

2. they dont think they can emotionally handle the swings and would tilt.

3. the reason they beat their respective games for so much is because they are so familiar with the player pool.

4. they dont like to keep 6 figure amounts online due to legality issues or the need for cash for other investments etc etc...

First Guess: $$$/hr is almost just as high, variance way less

for the top players I can't imagine that #'s 1 or 2 apply but I could be wrong.

Not everyone is comfortable losing 6 figures in a day, even top players. I still think more of the party 10/20 or 25/50 players could beat the bigger games tho..but if you take a shot and lose a bunch getting adjusted that could be pretty discouraging.

If I could of played 10-20 6 max on party for the rest of my life I would of. Now that I cant play as many tables and stars is harder i only play 25-50 and higher.

AFAIK some ppl were making 2k/hr not playing any higher than 10/20 and quiet a few were making 1k/hr. That is pretty nice. Not many could make much more player higher, I would guess. And say you had a new worth of $ 1mill. Well, going on a $40K downswing at 10/20 might not faze you too much, but going on a $100K downswing at 25/50 would prolly still sting pretty bad.

Also, I think for lots of people, myself included, the limits played is very much mood dependent. Some times I will be in the right frame of mind and want to play 100/200 (limit). But other times Im pretty tired, been on a bad run, on life semi tilt etc. and I dont fancy the possibility of dropping 15K, so I play a few tables of 15/30 and am content with 250 an hour fairly brainleslly and stressfree.
