Playing live for the first time, tips plz
So, the game is 1/2 100min-300max buy in. Rake is 5$/hour (not too bad, i think, but i dont know anything about live rake)
So, table ussually has between 5-8 players, 1 good tourney player and the rest are donks. Most of them are calling station or bluffers. So, any tips for adapting to this game? Im thinking in just playing tight and cbet little, and value bet all the way my good hands. What about raise sizes? i dont think the ussual 4bb+1 is good live. |

Re: Playing live for the first time, tips plz
ha - 4bb+1? it'll succeed only in bloating the pot and probably sucking people IN... not out. If that's what you want (Ax suited, lower pp's, etc) then go for it, but then you might be readable too.
I'd just look at the standard raise sizes that other players are making and go with that. In AC, the standard is 5-6bb. In some of the card clubs I play, it's 7-10bb. Most live games I've played, people usually do not put significant amounts of money in on a draw, so if they make a big bet, until you get some reads, you can be sure that they have a big made hand. jii - where is this digest? i searched for it and nothing came up. |

There will probably be a gambling heir about the place. Most people that play at private poker clubs are degenerates that will bet on anything. Just try and play your game as well as you can, and don't play differently because of the gambling atmosphere.

$5/hr rake is awesome, especially with 5-8 players.
