Default NL and Pot Limit poker by Ciaffone and Reuben

I posted this question in another thread but it never got answered so I'm starting one to try and get some feedback on this book. As far as hold em goes, is Ciaffone's NL and Pl book outdated compared to what you can get from NLHETP by Sklansky and Miller? I'm thinking about buying it just for the Hold Em and Omaha strategy, and I've heard it's a thinking book just like NLHETP, but has the other book since outdone Ciaffone's book? I believe his was published in 1999 so I was suspicious of this possibily being the case. I don't want to go spending money on concepts and theories already covered by Sklansky and Miller. Advice is appreciated.
