What stakes should I be playing ?

I have been playing online for just over a year and have managed make just $3000 from my $50 investment.

I have gradually moved up stakes as my BR grew and now usually play 2 tables at a time, 1 @ 0.25 / 0.50 and 1 @ 0.50 / 1.00, do you think I am playing the right stakes or should I be playing higher ?

Also, as I move up the stakes will I see much difference in the standard of opponent or, will I see a few better opponents and opponents at the same standard but with more money to gamble with ?

Play .50/1 on Full Tilt, 3K is fine and it's really, really soft.
