Domain question.

There's a domain that I'd really like to have for a project I'm starting, but the owner is asking 4 figures for the .com, and the site is just sitting parked, but it does get decent type in traffic.

The .net is available on godaddy. I think the domain name is great for this project, but would it be better to get a great .net name for a niche or settle for a not so great .com?

I really don't want to say the name or mention the project here, but I'm planning on this to be a large, bread and butter type of website, not a mini niche or a blog.
