Waking up to what kind of things are in the works (Iraq, Iran, etc)
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum on his former colleagues' increasing lack of resolve on the war
And while it may not be a popular thing to talk about right now, and I know public sentiment is against it, they understand the importance of the national security of this country, and they also understand that between now and November, a lot of things are going to happen, and I believe that by this time next year, the American public’s going to have a very different view of this war, and <font color="red">it will be because, I think, of some unfortunate events</font>, that like we’re seeing unfold in the UK. But I think the American public’s going to have a very different view, and part of it will be the education that these three men will be imparting on the American public during the course of this campaign. http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/Trans...f-64db473685bc Today, 7-7-07 Brzezinski predicts provoking war with Iran Brzezinski before The Senate Foreign Relations Committee: "The plausible scenario for a military collision with Iran involves Iraqi failure to meet the benchmarks, followed by accusations of Iranian responsibility for the failure, then by some provocation in Iraq or <font color="red">a terrorist act in the United States blamed on Iran</font>, culminating in a, quote, unquote, "defensive" U.S. military action against Iran, that plunges a lonely America into a spreading and deepening quagmire eventually ranging across Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvAGAkseh1w (3m53s, February 1, 2007) Putin Says U.S. Is Undermining Global Stability "The United States has overstepped its borders in all spheres - economic, political and humanitarian, and has imposed itself on other states," he said. It was a formula that, he said, had led to disaster: "Local and regional wars did not get fewer, the number of people who died did not get less but increased. We see no kind of restraint - a hyper-inflated use of force." === The US has gone "from one conflict to another without achieving a fully-fledged solution to any of them", Mr Putin said. “They bring us to the abyss of one conflict after another,” he said. “<font color="red">Political solutions are becoming impossible</font>.” === "We are seeing increasing disregard for the fundamental principles of international law," the Russian president said. "<font color="red">All our responses will be asymmetric, but highly effective</font>," the president said then. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6350847.stm http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/11/world/...amp;exprod=digg http://en.rian.ru/world/20070210/60519251.html 10 February 2007 |

Yeah I think it's been clear for quite awhile that their goal is basically to conquer the whole middle east, either by force or political/economic leverage. Even if a Dem gets elected on an anti-war platform, he/she will return to militarism as soon as a decent pretext comes along (not hard to find one when a war is raging). That said, you could probably find quotes like the ones you posted at any time so I don't think they mean much. Powerful people who want more power are always forecasting doom.

[ QUOTE ]
Deleted [/ QUOTE ] What are you talking about. The ruling class is openly stating that they want to expand the war effort and here are people openly theorizing about ways in which this might happen. You've got to raise bloody murder when you hear stuff like this. Read what Brezinski says, read what Putin says. These guys are top dogs and have seen it all, and they know what they are talking about. If things like that will happen, then your future will be different and the future of your children. The ruling class is ready to pull another Napoleon and you're making snarky comments to shut me up? What are you thinking?? |

[ QUOTE ]
Do you ever get bored of supporting even more fanciful conspiracy theories? [/ QUOTE ] "As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know." - Donald Rumsfeld, Feb. 12, 2002, DOD Defense News Briefing " I sincerely wish we could see our government so secured as to depend less on the character of the person in whose hands it is trusted. Bad men will sometimes get in and with such an immense patronage make great progress in corrupting the public mind and principles. This is a subject with which wisdom and patriotism should be occupied." ~ Thomas Jefferson "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." - Lord Acton |
