Default Steal from BB doesn\'t quite go according to plan....

Live tourney,$80 buy in.We are down to 2 tables,8 people at my table,top 7 pays,so far from money.BB 1k.I've got just over 60,SB around 65,everyone else is in the 30k range.

SB is a solid young player.Have played with him before and he is very aggressive,both post and pre,certainly capable of making moves.Likes to steal and resteal,but whenever he gets involved in a big pot,he seems to always have the goods.

OK,the actual hand;

2 limpers in MP,SB completes.I'm BB w A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I make it 7k.Limpers fold,SB calls.Did not expect that.

Flop 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I'm happy,SB checks,I bet 12k,SB goes all in. Me???

What can he have here?This seems like a great flop for me,and usually with an overbet like this,people are on a draw,however,since I have the Ad I can't figure that to be the case.

Maybe this is totally standard,but I honestly had no idea what to do here.

he could have: 55, 77, 88, 78, 89, 9T, KdQd, QdJd, JdTd, 7d8d, 6d7d, 5d6d, A6s, A2s, K9, Q9s, J9s, air that thinks that you missed the flop...

There are 4 hands that beat you (TT, 99, 66, 22) because he should have raised pf with JJ+ and there are only 13 combinations of hands that beat you. I didn't add up all of the possible combos of hands that you beat from the above range but I am pretty sure that it is more than what is required from your pot odds.

This is a great flop for a check raise all in because it missed all of your AK/AQ hands and he should expect you to cbet every time after raising out of the BB.

If you considered folding after hitting your miracle flop (and not just now when you are being results oriented) then you are WAY too weak to be profitable.

I call here. Only hand you need to worry about are a ragged two pair or a set.

There's 16K in the pot (excluding antes, if there are any) before the flop. You bet 12K and you get raised all-in.

So that's 40K + the raise-all in (41K). So that's 81K in the pot and you have to call 41K. Getting just about 2:1 on this call and he could have a variety of hands.

I gave villain a wide range of hands here. He really could have almost anything here.

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 69.579% 67.47% 02.11% 96851 3029.00 { Ad9s }
Hand 1: 30.421% 28.31% 02.11% 40641 3029.00 { 99, 66, 22, A9s, A6s, K9s, QdJd, QdTd, Q9s, JdTd, J9s, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 62s, 54s, 43s, A9o, A6o, K9o, Q9o, 96o+, 87o, 76o, 65o, 62o, 54o, 43o }

Even if you narrow that down a bit, you're still getting a good price to call here.
