Default If my roommate crashes my car is it insured?

Alright say my roommate has his own car insurance (for his car) and I have my own insurance for my car.

He borrows my car, crashes it.

Is there any coverage on this situation at all?

ya it should be fine (not a lawyer/insurance guru) but I believe they are required to pay for damages that occur on your vehicle by other parties as long as they don't drive the car often. if they drove the car very often (and this was somehow proven or something) your insurance would either change your adjustable and/or require that you sign something saying he won't drive the car

Call up your insurance provider and ask. Most policies will cover your car as long as the person driving has your permission. They do sometimes have exceptions though, so just call your provider and find out.

If he crashes your car, you're liable because the insurance is under your name.

It didn't happen, but I've been on both ends of the scenario enough times that I want to be aware of the consequences in case it does.

When I got my old car insurance they asked if anyone else was gonna be driving my car - so I'm not sure if that meant no one else was covered when I said no or what it meant.. but I'm guessing all insurance companies are different.

This is like asking if I get sick which hospital will my medical insurance cover it. It's all dependent on your plan.

I am sure your insurance agent will know.

You have paid to get your car insured. If you have comprehensive coverage on your car, your insurance will cover your car if he wrecks it. I don't know if his insurance will cover your car, but they will definitely cover his liability.
