Default A2o makes weak top pair

again no reads

If I check this flop and someone bets I think I can fold.

But if I'm betting, I also think I should bet the river.

Not quite sure how to play the hand, though.

Well by the river you are only losing to A9+ and I imagine someone would have raised with those hands. I like the river bet. I'm used to playing live where people would call down with any part of the board or worse so valuing betting is pretty straight forward. Online players tend to be a little less loose. STill they tend to be more aggressive, so I'm guessing any hand you're losing to would have raised at some point. SO you might as well bet and hope he's calling down with midpair or at worst you might be splitting. Who knows he might fold a weak ace.

In this spot I typically bet out as well. I figure against 4 guys TP is strong enough. If someone raises I call and fold the turn UI.

Against 5-7 opponents I check and see what the action is. THis allows me to c/r a late position bet, fold if its bet, then raised, or call if EP bets and you have odds to see the turn.

Thanks man.

Yeah, I'm seeing weird stuff at this game, this isn't really a limit factor because 1/2 can play pretty tough sometimes, but it's just that not everyone out there is 2p2 (thankfully).

A guy that was something like 14/3/x over 45 hands three-bet me from the SB, multiway with TT today, and this guy showed me A9, although I wasn't shocked by the a9. It's a pretty clear value bet based on what I figure he'll call with.

I just wasn't sure about taking the lead on the flop.

I think folding to a bet would be wrong here, people would bet middle pair, CO/BTN may bet if checked to with air and you have TP + outs to 2 pair/chopping outs.

If you lead you let non-A hands off the hook (or get bets in against villains that are prepared to call down without an A). - Obviously you also open yourself to a raise from a stronger hand.

If you check you let non-A hands attempt a bluff & remove the risk of a raise. You also get the chance to see whether there is a bet & raise & what happens on the turn. Also, in this case if it's checked round a bet from you on the turn may look like a steal attempt & may result in a call.

I think I prefer a check and see all things considered.

what's wrong with the hand? Nobody gave any indication that you were beat.

... and yet... I lost. weird? No.

I'm not sure how often I expect to have the best hand when I make a bet like this on the end. I'd say like 40-90% of the time, but I'm not sure exactly where in that range I am.

FWIW, if I knew for sure that it was 40%, I'd still bet.

if a late position player bets, I check raise with this type of hand.

I don't know why you would do that...

Snapping off a bluff from 97?
