I've been reading the site and I understand how they come up with it but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It seems like a stat that could potentially be very flawed. Anyways can somebody who knows more about this stuff than me chime in. I guess there's no question in here so my question is how accurate a metric is it?

Shrug, isn't it the same as the +/- system in hockey? The idea that you get points added/subtracted due to activity when you are on the court and not off seems to hold some water, I guess.

[/ QUOTE ] The difference is they adjust it based on who is on the floor for each team. I mean obviously -1 vs. the Mavericks is better than +1 vs. the celctics. |

Wouldn't this system also seem to say that great players on sucky teams are bad? Like, Joe Johnson has to be -a billion.

So, for example, Joe Johnson is +5 when compared to the rest of his team. Here's his +/- statline. On Off Net -3.6 -8.7 +5.0 |

I've read a few articles stating that sample size can make a big issue, when a couple guys in select situations play almost all of their minutes together.
