Default How to play against maniac?

Yesterday I played agaist a maniac. It is not the first time I lost a lot of money against this kind of villain. I have real problem playing against stats running around 50/27/2.9.

This hand is the types I tend to loose.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) internettexasholdem.com

Hero ($92.50)
BB ($67.27)
UTG ($250.10)
MP ($84.92)
CO ($74.08)
Button ($100.88)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.50.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP raises to $3</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero (poster) raises to $9.5</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls $7.

Flop: ($21) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP bets $15</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $45</font>, MP calls $84.92 (All-In), Hero calls $29.92.

Turn: ($195.84) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

River: ($195.84) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

Final Pot: $195.84

My stats are usually running 20-25/10-12/1.5-2.

How do I out play maniacs?

Make it $11 preflop. On the flop do whatever you think will make him get his money in. Weak lead is ok, so is your line, so is a standard cbet.

General advice against maniacs. Get on their left, tighten up preflop, loosen up your calling range against big bets post-flop. Find out what will make them get their money in bad. Do they like to raise weak leads? Do they ALWAYS bet when checked to? Do they fold to a lot of shoves, but will shove over a lot of raises with their weak hands? Look for these things then play tightish preflop poker.

Against maniacs, you will always be subject to high variance, but they usually bring you a high WR too.

Maniac defined by Gemeni:
Calling preflop with anything, and with bad position
Calling raises/bets with no pot odds valuation
Bets air a lot
Betting underpair
Caling bets with over card on board
