Default My Wrist Hurts

I have a cheap optical logitech mouse without a mousepad. The past couple of days after playing for an hour or 2, my wrist starts to get really sore.

Setup: I usually rest my elbow on my arm rest and the heel of my hand on the edge of my desk. I have the mouse sensitivity set fairly high, so I don't move anything but my hand.

What do you do to keep your wrists happy?

aren't you supposed to try to use larger muscle systems? don't rest the heel of your hand on the desk

When I started getting wrist pain, I changed my normal position to where my elbow was on the desk, so that my elbow and wrist were both resting on the same surface. I have had no serious pain and only occassional soreness since then (18 months ago).

To accomplish this, my mouse is usually even with the keyboard or behind it so that my arm is extended almost straight out.

I think the key is to make sure your wrist is below your elbow or even with it. Wrist above elbow = bad.

You are not supposed to just move the hand. That's the cause of your pain. Move the mouse back as someone suggested so your elbow and hand are on the same surface. Maybe get a cheap wrist supporter from Walgreens.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll move my monitor back a bit so there's room for my long monkey arms.

I have done a huge ammount of research into this, and I am doing great coping with my own carpal tunnel problems.

This thread is filled with terrible advice already.

You should talk to a doctor. There are thousands of ways you could have injured yourself, and what worked for others can hurt you.

What worked for me:

balt crank height adjustable desk: $200
evoluent vertical mouse 2: $50
2 neoflex lcd arms: $180
2 Huge mouspads: $20
Taking the arms off my chair: free

For most forms of RSI, there is no correct posture. You must be changing your posture.
