Default pocket tens preflop

ok..small sng 11 people 20 buyin,no rebuys
blinds 300-600...utg raises to 1800 and everybody folds to me small blind....wat do u do?...re raise, smooth call?...i smooth call and big blind folds.
flop comes out 2-9-9...i make a bet of 3000 and he goes over the top for the rest of his chips about 6000 more.
i think im pot committed..so i call and he turns over a 10-9
i think i just played my worst hand ever?

Way too little information here, in order to suggest changes on either street.

we'd need to know more about the villan, your image, general play, etc.

Given the hand he played (suited?), he sounds loose, so reraising PF would seem to make sense... but it may not, given a whole HOST of "if..." criteria.
