Should I have folded here?
Hello everyone - this is my first post but I hope to post regularly enough. I've been playing for about a year. I only play online and had mostly been playing .50-1 limit but recently I switched to NL for a change. I've been playing $10 trying to get a feel for it and have put in about 50 hours and am doing well.
Here is a hand that I found confusing. Any advice would be appreciated. The villian in this hand seems to be an idiot. He hasn't been at the table long. He has open-raised all-in preflop on three occasions and showed AJ suited, AK offsuit and 99. On one other occasion he went all-in on the flop with top pair, jacks, and a 9 kicker and that time I folded my J10 (he showed that move also). Anyway, this hand develops. Should I have folded here and waited for a better spot? I think at the moment I should have but everyone was just waited to bust him and I wanted it to be me. This hand is from WPEX and I havn't been able to get it to work in any hand history converter. Villian is player 2. NL $10 Texas Hold'em (No Limit) - 04:21:06 04/12/2006 ET Table 'Ride Along (6 Max)', 6 seats max, Real money Seat 1 is the button. Small Blind $0.05, Big Blind $0.10 Note: seat IDs range from 0 to 5 Seat 0 (playing) : Player 0, amount $4.97, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Seat 1 (playing) : Player 1, amount $3.48, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Seat 2 (playing) : Player 2, amount $5.90, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Seat 3 (playing) : Dr_Doctr, amount $15.60, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Seat 4 (sitOut) : Player 4, amount $21.45, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Seat 5 (playing) : Player 5, amount $14.20, amount bet $0, penalty (None) Player 2: Small Blind ($0.05) Dr_Doctr: Big Blind ($0.10) ** Dealing Down Cards ** Dealt to Dr_Doctr: [Ad, Td] Player 5: Fold Player 0: Fold Player 1: Fold Player 2: Raise ($0.20) Dr_Doctr: Call ($0.10) ** Dealing Flop ** Community cards: [6d, Ac, Kc] Player 2: Bet ($0.10) Dr_Doctr: Call ($0.10) ** Dealing Turn ** Community cards: [8h] Player 2: Bet ($0.10) Dr_Doctr: Raise ($0.40) Player 2: Raise ($0.70) Dr_Doctr: Call ($0.30) ** Dealing River ** Community cards: [2s] Player 2: Bet ($4.90) Dr_Doctr: Call ($4.90) ** End Round ** ** Evaluate ** Player 2: Show Cards ($0) Dr_Doctr: Show Cards ($0) ** Showdown ** Main pot $11.25, Rake $0.55 Summary Player 2: bet $5.90, won $11.25, net $5.35, HoleCards [8d, Ks], HiHand [two pairs, kings and eights] [Ks, Kc, 8h, 8d, Ac], won $11.25 from main pot Summary Dr_Doctr: bet $5.90, won $0, net $-5.90, HoleCards [Ad, Td] I guess I put him on a weak ace or even a king since I checked the flop. Looking back on it, there wasn't much I could beat. I didn't have much information on this guy's play aside from that he was crazy. After this hand he immediately left the table with my $5 or so |

Re: Should I have folded here?
A short piece of generic advice that you already basically spelled out in you post:
When setting up to bust the table donk - it is usally a good idea( but not always a must)to have a better hand than TPmehK. There are total air maniacs - this one at least had something behind his pushes. Don't post results as it makes giving hand advice kind results oriented. On a positive note though - it is nice that you set the hand up with examples of villains earlier play and your read on him. Welcome to micro. |

Re: Should I have folded here?
Thanks Everlong - Yeah, looked like a fold - just needed confirmation. I'll remember not to post results also.
