Default Article on Mets MVP Chances

Favors Jose Reyes?

In this article Wright, Beltran, and Reyes are discussed. No real mention of Delgado. But the conclusion is that Jose Reyes is the Met who deserves the MVP the most (talking about NL MVP, not team MVP).

Really....I think in this case it is Beltran, and not really close. Anyone agree with the author?

Many people do, they're just not rational.

I agree the best argument for Jose Reyes looks like this:

The case for Reyes: Put aside the numbers for a moment.

The case for Reyes: Put aside the numbers for a moment. The Mets are a different team when Reyes is rolling, and he's been rolling for most of the season. He dominates opponents with four weapons: his speed, his glove, his arm and his bat. And only his bat is not completely in his control.

[/ QUOTE ] The entire case for Reyes is nonsense; some of it is meaningless when analyzed. The relevance of all four of those 'weapons' to baseball performance (and, therefore, to a team's w-l record) shows up in the stats.

"Put aside the numbers" is just another way of saying "put aside the facts".

Carlos Beltran has been far more valuable than any other Met. He won't win, but he probably should.

if a met is goin win it, it's gotta be beltran. I know wright has been good, but he's tailed off. Reyes has been solid, but he's the catalyst and is not doing most of the damage, IMO.

Yeah I mean I love Reyes, but he is turning into the same thing as Jeter: an excellent player who will be overrated because of where he plays and the way he plays(as opposed to how well he plays). He's also very similar to ichiro in the same respect. Beltran is an incredible player in every facet of the game and gets overlooked because he is no longer a sexy pick due to having a bad year last year.

Hmmm, those sound like opinions to me. You need re-evaluate your definition of facts.

Since when is 17 steals considered "great speed"? That prob puts him around 25th in the NL.

Yes Howard is at the bottom of fielding 1B, however 1B is a "hitting" position now and always has been. Also, they have a different award for fielding, its called the Golden Glove.
