Hello, I watched shaundeeb's win in the $11 trny, and stumbled across one hand which confused me (#181).
Villain is jugador420 if it says something to anyone. blindes were 800/1600/75 (9 handed) Hero(t38340) UTG Villain (t16810) HJ Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to t4800, 2 folds, MP3 reraises AI to t16735, 5 folds, Hero calls t11935 Hero called t11935 into a t24610 (800+1600+675+4800+16735) Why? |

hes getting 2.4-1 those are pretty huge odds. His hand doesnt matter that much when your getting massive odds.

[/ QUOTE ] I now this sounds stupid when looking at the odds, but he's also risking 1/3 of his stack on this call, which will leave him with M < 5. I'm asking this because many times I find myself in situations like this, and often, I choose to wait for a "better spot" when I'm the aggressor, or when I have more of a hand. Is this a leak? No one sees a fold here ever? |

I doubt there are as many "better spots" as you think there are.

Deeb has posted in the past that when he steals and faces an ai resteal, he will always (or maybe he said almost always) call when getting better than 2:1.
In this case he was getting about 2.5:1 = he needs to win 29%. The only hands that he is less than 29% to win against are pairs 99 and higher. Those hands make up a pretty small fraction of MP3's range. Deeb may also have had a read (possibly from previous tournaments) that MP3 is an active restealer, which makes this a boringly easy call. |

Someone asked about this exact hand some time ago. Shaun replied something like what everyone else is saying (i.e. pot odds).
However, he also mentioned that he knew if he won the hand he would go on to "terrorize" the tournament. If you watched the rest of the HH, you saw that he did just that. |

Does Shaundeeb make this move (original raise) everytime with a 89 suited, utg, and with an M of just a little over 12?

I know that, but if you watch the whole tournament he raises several times with suited connectors in early position...is that a standard play? In HOH Dan says suited connectors with an M less than 20 shouldn't be played as often.
