Default Poker schools

Not sure where to ask this one....

I've seen advertisements for WPT Poker School and other similar poker "camps" Has anyone done one? Was it a worthwhile experience?

I can't imagine camps doing anything for your game that 2p2/books/videos that cost little to nothing couldn't. If you want to meet phil hellmuth, you're an idiot. If you want to busto phil hellmuth, play in a tournament.

Lol, these poker camps are bogus, it's just about meeting Phil and having him tell you his super duper poker secrets.

Well, this is shameless promotion, since I'm the lead instructor, but so far I have taught 3 WSOP Academy camps, and so far we have received almost 100% positive feedback from our customers. And the negative feedback has been pretty mild. It is quite possible that our average customer is not as advanced as the average busy participant here at 2+2, but we do get a mix of skill levels. Whether what you learn will improve your game enough to justify the price tag is hard to determine, as a lot of that depends upon where your game is at now, and how much/how high you play. But if you put in significant effort at the camp, I am sure you will recoup at least a large fraction of the cost, if not more than 100%. And pretty much everybody seems to have fun as well.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

I'm sure Katja Thater went to one of those WSOP Academies prior to this years series. She placed 5th in Ladies and won the Razz open event, no better feather in a cap than a bracelet winner.

Must have some value.
