Re: JJ vs a fish who likes his hand
Shove and win vs 77. Stacking off on a blank turn is an option but there are too many scare cards to do so IMO.

whats his range here? [/ QUOTE ] Quite large, and I think that you fare well against it. I would definitely say that 88 and 99 are there, as are some big draws. I don't know if shoving the flop will get called by too many hands that beat you, so I would lean slightly towards call/shove turn to get an extra bet out of these types of hands. |

Re: JJ vs a fish who likes his hand
Can someone explain why call/shove turn is better than shoving flop in this situation?
I understand in some cases why the turn is the better option but that does not appear to be the case here. If we do wait for the turn and a scare card hits are we folding? FWIW I am shoving here. |

Can someone explain why call/shove turn is better than shoving flop in this situation? [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely! A lot of times, a flop 3bet shove will only get called by hands that have us crushed, or we are only a slight favorite against (a big draw.) So, it is my opinion that calling will get more value from hands that have us beat. [ QUOTE ] If we do wait for the turn and a scare card hits are we folding? [/ QUOTE ] Ahhh, that is the beauty of position. [ QUOTE ] FWIW I am shoving here. [/ QUOTE ] I do not think that shoving is by any means bad, I just think that calling and playing the turn is a little bit more profitable for several reasons. Edit: Just realized: BB: $153.00, I think that it makes a bit more sense to shove flop as he is likely more commited with only 75 bbs. |

Re: JJ vs a fish who likes his hand
Shove flop. I hate waiting for the turn. Assuming you're ahead right now, there are lots of scare cards that can come for villain. If he has something like 88-TT, any face card might kill your action, and donks love stacking off with draws.

Re: JJ vs a fish who likes his hand
with 100 bb id see a turn as opposed to jamming the flop as he can commit with hands that we beat by having the initiative on the turn (e.g. 10 10, puts you on a draw). not so sure its a draw here in this spot. he cr/ed you 1/3pot. think his cr semi bluff would be bigger unless he has no understanding of the semi bluff.
i think its marginal as his range is so huge but the range that he plays like this is (maybe?) leaning towards made hands. id push as there is money in the pot all ready so pot odds are good but you would be behind/ma here a lot |
