5/10: std call ai on flop w/ tpnk for 120BB?

I'm in SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and effective stacks are around $1200. UTG, a passive fish (but not station) limps and hass about $600. A decent TAG who plays up to 25/50 raises to 50. My only read on him is that he seems to like shoving without really thinking it through but maybe he was just tilted against me. Another LP fish with a full buyin calls OTB, I call, BB folds, UTG calls.

4 to flop of J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], pot $210. Checked to button who bets $100. I call (this is probably an error) UTG calls, TAG shoves. BTN tanks and fold. I snapcall.

No, because even if Tag shoves and has "air" UTG could have the monster.

I think I should have folded. Button is lp, I have basically the worst kicker and it's going to be tough here oop with this board. Also I don't close the action. I may be wrong, I'm interested in opinions on this too.

recallme, true he just may have a monster. OTOH even a fish will raise here most of the time with a strong hand, and his range for calling 100 into 400 is very wide. Plus he only has 600. You may still be right tho.

i know we are against bad players, but i auto fold preflop. i also call where you did the first time, and fold to the shove

Agreed about preflop FWIW, usually a fold for me.

I like the flop call if you call preflop, you also have some backdoor straight and flush possibilities against a couple fish and what might be the best hand already. If you fold this flop I disagree with calling preflop.

As played he probably is on a draw here like always so I don't think a call is terrible, but I still probably fold without having a better idea how he plays.

Hard to put him on anything that you lose to other than JJ. I doubt he ever plays any better J this way and it's also really hard to see him checking a set or an overpair here.

Also, given your read on him this sounds a lot like he is saying to himself "Hmmm, one guy bets weak and no one shows strength, I can buy this", which fits perfectly with your statement that he "seems to like shoving without thinking it through very much".
