fares from us to europe

I was looking at fares from nyc to paris for a long weekend (june 28 - july 1) and they are much higher than I remember (1.2k/person). any tips on getting a better fare than this, or is the high season always like this?

don't go in the summer!

from NYC to Paris you can get as low as $400 in the winter or on fall/spring sales. not in the summer. you can probably do better than $1,200 in the summer, but not much below $800.
