$2 6-Max Shove this pre-flop?
I'm pretty certain I'm a break-even player, but I'm playing exclusively $2 turbo 6-max SNGs for a month and logging the results to be sure.
Villain is 67/11/1 over 43 hands. Full Tilt Poker, $2 + $0.25 NL Hold'em Sit n' Go, 40/80 Blinds, 3 Players LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter Hero (BB): 1,685 BTN: 2,665 SB: 4,650 Pre-Flop: (80) A K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB) Hero raises to 240, SB calls 160 Flop: (480) 7 Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) SB bets 480, Hero ??? |

Re: $2 Shove this pre-flop?
I disagree with shoving preflop, I think you lose alot of value by shoving preflop. As played, I'd just fold the flop. It's not a turbo, and you're still going to have around 15BBs, so you're not dead water yet.

Re: $2 6-Max Shove this pre-flop?
I'm confused about the preflop action. Are you on the BB and raised after he completed or on the button and open-raised?
If you're BB, and button folded and SB completed, I'd raise more than that. 3x is still pricing him in to call with pretty much anything and he will usually do so. |

Re: $2 6-Max Shove this pre-flop?
Oops, didn't notice the action was messed up. Someone had just gotten eliminated on the last hand, there was no SB this hand. Correct action should be my raise, 1 fold, BB calls 160.

[/ QUOTE ] That flop is fairly likely to have hit him, especially given his loose preflop play and the fact that a passive player is now betting. $EV_fold = 19.49% $EV_push-win = 36.29% $EV_push-lose = 0% $EV_push_nocall = 28.55% You're probably about a 2:1 underdog if called, so I'll say your equity in that case is 36.29/3 = 12.10%. This means if you get called (19.49-12.10)/(28.55-12.10) = 45% of the time, it breaks even. Is he going to fold more than 45% of the time calling 965 into 2405? I don't think he'll fold unless he's totally bluffing, and I see this as being unlikely given his stats. It's probably best to respect the donk bet here, as much as it sucks to have to fold a good hand. ...and no I don't shove preflop but I don't really think it's a bad idea. |

Re: $2 6-Max Shove this pre-flop?
I guess I played it correctly then, I folded. I need to work on not getting emotionally involved I think. It's frustrating to pick up a good starting hand when you're the short stack only to end up getting donked into on the flop when you miss completely.
Thanks for the responses, I still have a looooot to learn. |
