flop trips w draw to higher fullhouse and backdoor 2nd nut low - plo8
villain is 26/6/1
Is flop call ok with cards in my hand that will make a higher full house plus backdoor low? Is turn call ok with second nut low draw and again with cards that will make a higher full house? Comments on all streets appreciated. Re: flop trips w draw to higher fullhouse and backdoor 2nd nut low - plo8
What was the thinking of the lead bet on the flop? Nobody without a 9 will pay for the backdoor draw, and anybody with a nine will probably raise you and put you on the defensive. As played, when you made the flat call on flop you telegraphed, and the turn made it super-obv what you had.
A better line for this situation might be as follows 1) check the flop and flat call any bet 2) Pound the turn if a low draw comes multi-way, but if HU don't get too cute with trips but no boat. 3) You're on the river with a smaller pot for a smaller hand. |

I would also lead this flop and expect to take down the pot most of the time. Checking lets people draw to their gutshot straights, overpairs, and backdoor lows.
I think you really need to have an idea of how aggro and tricky villain is. Against most people, I think you can fold the turn, because you don't have odds to draw against a made full house. But obviously if villain is capable of taking a raise/fold line on this flop, just to try to figure out what you really have, then you might have to call down. Players like that are rare at this level though. |
