how about check/call flop [/ QUOTE ] I really hate c/c the flop here. We have no idea where the hell we are, and like 3/4 of the deck is bad cards. We get outplayed way too much with that line, and I think that a stop and go induces a lot of bluffs. A lot of people don't slowplay to the river, don't bluffraise very often, chase too much, don't value bet very thinly, and bluff predictably (one way or the other). When a few of these things are true (either because they suck, or because of metagame), betting can definitely work out well. When too many of those things are untrue, you start getting into trouble, and the pot is going to be pretty big on the river, and you're OOP. I just c/f this sometimes too, but against unknowns when the pot's not too big yet, I usually prefer more aggressive lines. I much prefer smallish bet sizing when you can get away with it, too. |

Re: A7 flops TPTK on montone board, fire turn?
I think if we are checking the turn, it should be with the intent of giving up on the hand, we will be to exploitable oop vs good opponents. With no prior history, I see this as a good spot for a second barrel, nothing indicates to him that you are out of line, so I would take this oppertunity to capitalize on your pf and flop aggression.

If I knew he was tricky, cf the flop is kind of sexy. Since hes an unknown, I dig 40 folding to a raise, something goofy to ward him off 'outplaying' us.
