Semibluffing calling stations T9o HU .25/.50
So like I said I'm making the jump to 6-max and trying to learn appropriate aggression levels. All the shorthanded books talk a lot about being more aggressive with draws and with overs etc. Unfortunately I think I'm overdoing it a bit. Here's an example:
The villain here is 44/2.9/1 after 77 hands most of which were 6 handed; the table has now dropped to 3 players but he has not seemed to adjust his game. Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 Limit Hold'em - 3 players Hand Converter Tool from DeucesCracked.com Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Button folds, SB calls, Hero checks. Flop: (2.00 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls. Turn: (2.00 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls. River: (4.00 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls. Final Pot: 6.00 BB Is betting the gutshot on the flop and semi bluffing the gutshot / flush draw on the turn too much against someone like this? Assuming it is, what stats are you looking at to decide when to start making plays like this? |

Re: Semibluffing calling stations T9o HU .25/.50
I raise about 90% of my hands when the sb open-completes. The hand will play much differently doing this. However, there is merit to just seeing a cheap flop, especially if your opponent doesnt fold much post flop or has limp-raised you.
As played, he called the flop to peel or he has a pari or strong draw. Most hands that he peels with picked up outs on that turn, so I think the semi-bluff will not work often enough. You should take your free card. The river is an easy value bet, wheather you take a free card or not. |

Not raising preflop and keeping the pot small has lots of merit vs a calling station. It makes his mistakes smaller when you vb him and he peels with weak draws and it makes it less of a mistake when you dont semibluff and bluff him.
With no FE I like seeing a free flop and valuebet him postflop. With FE its a raise prelop IMO. Postflop I think you did fine. With all them outs the turn bet is ok. Flop and river is standard IMO. |
