Mario Strikers Charged
i know this has been out for a month or two in other parts of the world...release date is today here in North America.
What can we expect? It looks amazing!! Sadly I did not play the Gamecube version, but from the previews of this one it looks great. |

Re: Mario Strikers Charged
I've had it a couple of month. It's fantastic. The single player is pretty dumb and pointless but online and standard multiplayer are just brilliant. Obivously it's nothing like football (soccer), reminds me more of a beat 'em up in many ways. A must buy IMO.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged
I thought it was just OK after playing the tutorials and beating up on the computer. But that pales in comparison to how crazy/intense games get online or when you get to the more difficult challenges. Awesome game. 8/10 imo. Menus and presentation are kind of weird but that is my only big gripe.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged
I have only played this game for a bit and I think it is fun, but I have a serious problem with it; megastrikes. I mean wtf, this has absolutely nothing to do at all with soccer and can seriously ruin the fairness of a match. I understand it's not going to be a perfect sim when Mario gets involved in any sport, but this is just stupid.
Is there a way you can turn this off or not have it used in wi-fi play? i have yet to play wifi. |

Re: Mario Strikers Charged
I felt the same way at first. Just wait until you play it for a while and play against someone who is decent. Most of the time no one will even be able to get a Megastrike off.
Plus, blocking all the Megastrike balls is easy enough that you probably would do best to just work on lots of lob passes and then one-timing it in. Edit: and yes, you can turn off all skill shots and Megastrikes in Domination mode after you collect Mario's challenge card. I think online is always the default settings though with that stuff on. |

Re: Mario Strikers Charged
The thing is that it's nearly impossible to get a good megastrike off. When you miss the accuracy button they're easy to block. I hate the lob passes because the only way to take the ball away is to hit someone without the ball, giving the opposition an item.

You can intercept them if you get your guy near the circle of where it's going to land. It's hard to do since hitting the A button switches dudes. So just get close and start mashing on the B button and you will clear it to the other end. Also, you can slide tackle people as the ball is coming down and I don't think it will give them items. |
