Holdem: set over set over set on the flop?? Odds are?
This happened the other day in a live limit holdem game... just wondering what the odds of it are?

Re: Holdem: set over set over set on the flop?? Odds are?
For this to happen , each player must be dealt different pocket pairs .Also , I will make the assumption that there are only 3 players in the game .
The probability player 1 has a pocket pair is 78/1326 . The probability player 2 has a "different" pocket pair given that player 1 has a pocket pair is 72/1225 . The probability player 3 has a pocket pair given that players 1 and 2 have distinct pairs is 66/1128 . So we have 78/1326*72/1225*66/1128*2^3/44c3 = 0.000000122.... With n players at your table , you would multiply the above number by nc3 and note that 4 players cannot be dealt sets on the flop so the events are mutually exclusive . |

Just one clarification .
The denominator should be 46c3 instead of 44c3 . The probability is 0.0000001066... |

This happened the other day in a live limit holdem game... just wondering what the odds of it are? H1: QQ H2: 88 H3: 44 Flop: Q84 [/ QUOTE ] Buddy of mine was playing the 10-20 NL game at the Bellagio with 10K behind. A couple guys have a lot more. Buddy flops OESFD in a 4 way pot. There's some action on the flop, and he calls with his 15 outer. He makes a straight flush on the turn. The river pairs the board, and all hell breaks loose. Turns out, the flop was set over set over set, and quads and boats were made on the river. My buddy won a $40K pot, but the side pot was 3 times that size. |
