Deadwood: S2E1 (revisted)
I get done watching John from Cincinnati today and I start thinking, "wow, I really miss Deadwood". So I just rewatched S2E1 and all i can say is FU to the HBO exec that [censored] up and let this show fall through the cracks. I can't wait till they make the mini-series.
- Al Swearengen vs. Seth Bullock in one of the great moments in all of TV - Alma Garret and Seth Bullock get it on. - Martha and William Bullock arrive. - Cyrus Tolliver just being Cy. |

Re: Deadwood: S2E1 (revisted)
Heh, JFC had me searching for old Deadwood threads last night.
In one of them, I commented that when the brawl between Seth and Al went over the railing, it was the only time a tv show literally made me jump up to the edge of my seat, and got me to exclaim, "Whoa!" |

The fight between Dan and "The General" or whatever his name was is one of the greatest fights in television history.

[/ QUOTE ] Agreed that was the most realistic and brutal fight I've ever seen in a movie or on tv. But probably my favorite Deadwood moment... the sequence near the end of S1 when Al mercy-kills the preacher while Doc delivers his amazing angry tirade against God. Best 5 minutes of television I've ever seen. |

Re: Deadwood: S2E1 (revisted)
I think the sequence in Season 3 when Al convinces Alma Garrett to walk alone to her bank, despite being shot at earlier, to show Hearst that she wouldn't be intimidated, was one of the show's best moments.
That walk, with the music, the tension, and the drama, was just incredible television. I'm still annoyed with the finale. Awful way to end the season and the series... |

I'm still annoyed with the finale. Awful way to end the season and the series... [/ QUOTE ] Agreed 100%...very anti-climatic and disappointing. In fact, probably the only disappointing thing about the entire run of the show. The show (because of what it was) and the fans deserved better. Very strange... That being said, I totally agree with OP...what a fantastic show. I know I'm in the minority with this one (and prepared to take a beating on it), but I think it was better than the Sopranos. I hope that the talk of revisiting the show in a mini-series or whatever wasn't just talk and that there is some followup on it. It's definitely missed... Does anyone else miss these things as much as I do: * Richardson (the antlers especially...how hilarious was that?) * Aunt Lu (the mahjong scene...lol) * the classic back and forth between Al & Merrick. * the doting trio of Dan, Johnny and Silas ... * the specialist (you know what I'm talking about) Sigh..jesus, someone better have something REALLY good in store now that this and the Sopranos is gone.
