How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
I'm really having problems with them. I am grinding out a decent profit at the NL tables but when I have a bad session and I'm walking out of the casino passing by all the table games sometimes I just can't help it and impulsively try to "get even" with some blackjack. Obviously that never ends well. I always thought I was above this sort of thing, but I am recently finding that I am not.
How do those of you who play poker on a daily basis manage to avoid this deathtrap? |

Get help for your compulsive gambling.
I did. Haven't been tempted by the -EV games since. |

I lose all the time at them when dicking around with friends -- that kills the urge to play any other time.

Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
My time playing has ingrained in me to try and only put money in on +EV situations.
Pit games(other than BJ) are -EV, therefore I have absolutely no desire to play them. I find it much more entertaining to watch other play. If you play them with the desire to 'get even', and can't control yourself, you may be heading down a bad road and might want to think of quitting gambling altogether. b |

Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
Well it has happened twice so far and I'm down a total of $350 from it. Not terrible, but still definitely not good for my living situation. I do manage never to hit the ATM, so it's always been just what I had in my wallet. I will redouble my efforts to stay away and see how it goes, but if it keeps happening over time, I'll have no choice but to consider that bernie...
I wish you could ban yourself from casinos like you can online. |

There are some very simple systems out there that will let you make a small profit (assuming your don't tip big) for very little effort. KO BlackJack is one of the easiest systems out there... took me about a week (practice ~1 hour a day) to get decent at it. For craps, roulette, etc... there is no hope. Re: How do you guys avoid the draw of table games?
As a winning player I find this works. When I walk into the casino oftentimes I mentally gloat at this fantastic idea that all these people playin' these games around me are suckers. Granted, a lotta people have fun playin' these games, and for most of them, they consider the price worth it.
But as a winning player, I have the ability to walk into the casino and not be a sucker. I really consider these table game players suckers (the entertainment value notwithstanding) and thus, the very notion of sittin' down at one of those things is almost inconceivable to me (of course excepting drunken revelry with good friends). |
