AA $200NL - I hate river checkraises
I've only played 35 hands with villain, he's not especially tight or loose, not calling or raising so much that I notice. I'm 2-tabling, so I'm paying attention. He's just stacked off in a reraised pot with AA vs 66 on a T66 flop, this is shortly after. I'm playing 30/25/12 or so this session.
Blinds: $1/$2 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $191.50 UTG+1: $172.50 CO: $411.25 Hero: $313.25 SB: $198 BB: $137.50 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 folds, Hero raises to $7, SB calls, BB folds. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($16, 2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $15, SB calls. Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($46, 2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $30, SB calls. River: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($106, 2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $60, SB raises all-in $146 Everything standard so far? Should I check behind on the river? Do you call here? What do you guys think of river checkraises in general? Thanks. |

Re: AA $200NL - I hate river checkraises
man those are some attractive odds to call. Its barely more than a minraise. We beat random bluffs, missed fd but thats about it. I probably call here b/c of the odds we are getting and b/c im a calling station and im extremely curious

Re: AA $200NL - I hate river checkraises
How did he play his AA hand? (i.e. was he raising or was he calling?)
Except for the AA vs 66 hand, had this player been deep in any other hands - and if so did he play agressivly or was he calling. [censored] this is a hard spot! I was going to say call - but i think that too many of his hands contain a J - all you are beating is a missed flush draw (as alot of the straight drawing hands contain a J). I really dont think he thinks you will fold much of a hand for like $84 more. Your odds are very good - hard spot, love to see what you did (could you PM me with the results (if you called) ?). Ty. BTW i think you are beat - but i prob still call <--- POW. |

Pretty sure you're beat here most of the time by Jxcc type hands but you're getting ridic good odds. Either choice ends up being similar in EV over the long run IMO.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has ever come across one of these river C/R all-in situations where one pair was good? If so, HH?

Also, I was wondering if anyone has ever come across one of these river C/R all-in situations where one pair was good? If so, HH? [/ QUOTE ] The river CR, where hero has position and gives his hand away some, has been mentioned a bit the last week or two. It's something I've been thinking about since it happened to me. Accepted wisdom seems to be that not many people at this level are capable of doing it, and I'd have to agree with that. FWIW as for your hand, I don't think I'm going for 3 streets of value here. Not on a JJT8 board. I might bet more on the Turn and check the River. Instead of checking the River, potbetting the river. And I'd argue that you shouldn't be betting all 3 streets if you're not folding to a CR here. And given how small it is for villain to CR-allin I think it often becomes too tempting to call. Making it a worse spot. Maybe 3-street against a calling station. Here, not so much. |
