The table was really tight, folding blinds several times. I had a conservative image and hadn't been very active on the CO or button, let alone any other position. When the BB called I knew I was probably an underdog. On the flop I bet out as I thought it'd be too suspicious to check behind. The CR concerned me, but the only hands that fit had a K, so I pushed. Did I go wrong PF? Thats the only place I think I erred. I think calling PF just makes it a tougher problem. But maybe I "flopped" on the flop as well. If I check behind on the flop, the turn is an ace, he bets out and I raise. I wouldn't have put him on AK then because I would've imagined AK re-raising my potential steal attempt. Also, I would've kicked myself for letting him catch for free. KK could've also just called PF, but its unlikely that KK would CR such a nice flop. The only other trouble hands I can think of are 66, and less likely 44. The most likely hands at the time seemed KJ or KQ. |

Dude this just a bad beat. Plain and simple. PF? Who cares. Raising is fine. So is folding. You got unlucky. Play another one.

Sure felt like a bad beat. I guess it only felt wrong in retrospect. Like one of those, "shouldn't have been in the hand anyway," lines. Def play another, thanks.

I haven't looked at the results but I bet you anything you had him crushed on the flop and he sucked out on you with that ace.

You wouldn't have posted this if you hadn't gotten sucked out on.

Re: 4/180 - fold to begin with?
Your right in some respect HSP, but I didn't really see it as a suck out. We (me and the BB) both made our plays and thats what happened. I was just wondering if it was a losing play in the first place; thats all. Your insight is masterful, I can see why you play high stakes.

Re: 4/180 - fold to begin with?
Do you know what the word "suckout" means? It's when you get the money in with the best hand, and as a statistical favorite, and the other guy catches a lucky card to beat you. It doesn't matter who started with the best hand, only who had the best hand when the money went in. This is what happened to you. You had the best hand when the money went in, and he got lucky. That's a suckout. I think the question of how to play the hand preflop has been sufficiently answered by others.

Re: 4/180 - fold to begin with?
I see. Thanks for clearing up the terminology. The way I've heard it always made it seem like the PF favorite.
In the future, I'll be sure to post hands I win as well. Forgive us "noobs." I just started posting, and reading all sorts of good stuff here. I hope I can return the gift in time. |
