Who here was never seriously into poker?
Seems like there are some pretty active posters around here these days who have never been active at all on any of the strat forums. In the past, pretty much every 2+2er was seriously into poker at some point. I'm sure that's still the case for the majority of people here. But I'm interested in hearing from people who participate here who found out about 2+2 some other way than through poker. Just curious how you ended up becoming part of this community and why you like it/what you get out of it/etc.

I thought this was a math forum. No wonder I got all my homework wrong. |

Re: Who here was never seriously into poker?
Kind of hard to define that. I used to play a ton, but it has never been my "primary job."
Am I a hobbyist, casual, or "serious?" ray |

Re: Who here was never seriously into poker?
Ray,
If you came to 2+2 to learn about / talk about poker, I'm not talking about you. I should have said that in my OP, actually. I'm curious about people who came here for reasons other than poker. |

[/ QUOTE ] That makes a lot more sense. I definitely do not count then. I came to learn... I don't know if I actually did, though. Re: Who here was never seriously into poker?
I used to reply here as light relief from playing limit short-handed. I no longer play, but still post here.
Sounds like a junkie's story - just change "poker" to "work/stress" and "OOT" to "crack". |

Re: Who here was never seriously into poker?
Not so much today, but in the past few years, I have taken my poker fairly seriously. My 1 year layoff from work required that I support myself through poker and I was able to do that successfully. However, I have never made a strat post and may never make one.
I am able to realize that I am not at the level of most and not in a position to offer advice. My reading of the strat forums (just about) eliminates my need to ask any questions, so I stay away from cluttering the forums with my dumb/repeatative questions. I do read them quite a bit though and value the knowledge afforded to me by them. I mostly read PLO & SSNL |

Re: Who here was never seriously into poker?
I think I am pretty close. I play low limits online nothing more than 1/2 nl and maybe 3/6 limit. The most I ever play is about five or six hours a week.
The first forum I read was OOT and I don't remember why or how I found it. I decided to read some other forums on 2+2 and thought poker seemed pretty cool so I started to play a little. |
