Files that cannot be deleted in Windows XP
I downloaded an mp3 album, most of these come with a .jpg of the album cover, an m3u file, an sfv, etc. Well I recently backed them up to dvd and I want to delete the mp3s. All of them deleted just fine except for one album's extra files (jpg, m3u, sfv).
All the folders and subfolders that they are in will not go away. I've tried deleting the main folder, doesn't work. I get a message that says "Error Deleting File or Folder: Cannot delete 00-CL1~.JPG: Cannot find the specified file, Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." I've tried renaming the file, creating a blank text document and deleting them both at the same time, changing the windows view to only show the file name. Rebooting, closing all programs, and the attempting to delete. No luck. Its like the file isn't even stored there, even though the interface says it is. Any suggestions, I imagine there is an app out there that can help me. But again, I'm not sure it would be able to "find" the file. |

Re: Files that cannot be deleted in Windows XP
Try running scandisk. Perhaps there's an error in the file allocation table.

Re: Files that cannot be deleted in Windows XP
i'm not sure if this would work, but maybe getting a wipe program, like r-wipe&clean or something and get rid of it this way...it's usually more effective than windows delete and has worked in getting rid of files where windows couldn't...
