Wicked bass beats
Recently I was listening to A Punchup at a Wedding (no no no...) and was so sucked in by the amazing base beat. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other songs that have really great base in them and what bassists are at the top of the heap. I feel these dudes don't often get much credit or recognition for their craft, as I know we have discussed drummers and lead guitarists a bunch in OOT. Here are a few songs that I love the base in:
Radiohead - A Punchup at a Wedding (no no no no no no no no) The Strokes - Between Love and Hate The Beatles - Dear Prudence / Come Together Now it's your turn. |

Re: Wicked base beats
John Paul Jones is a fantastic bassist.
Any Led Zepplin track. The Lemon song is my particular bass favorite. And I agree with you. The guitarist(s) and front-man get all the attention, but it's the bassist and the drummer that's the "glue" of the band. Or, the meat and potatoes, if you will. |

A Million Ways to be Cruel - OK Go
one of my favorites lately, especially to play. Fairly basic early, by the end gets pretty sick. |

Re: Wicked bass beats
When I think bass, I don't think the guitar. With that in mind:
Ils - Over turned ASAP - Heavy Water Agitator - Aquasky Remix DJ Hype f. MC Fats - Peace, Love & Unity Jenna G - Woe I can probably come up with 50 more. |
