Sponsoring a kid?
Anyone have any experience or done any research on those programs where you pay a set amount per month to make sure some third world kid can go to school and get medical care?
Any idea which programs actually use almost all the money to help kids rather than to run more TV ads? Thanks |

Re: Sponsoring a kid?
i sponser children through compassion international. they were recommended to me because they supposedly use more of the money donated than most other similar organizations.
I haven't really researched it myself...all i know is that they take out $X per month straight from my checking account. zip |

Re: Sponsoring a kid?
I've read it's 0.81 on the dollar for Compassion International. If you are trying to get the least overhead per dollar you can definitely do better. However most organizations who do this are religious, so if you don't like religion your options will be more limited.

Re: Sponsoring a kid?
how do these organizations pick which kid out of the community gets sponsored and which doesn't? I would love to sponsor a fat bratty El Salvadorian version of Eric Cartmen who is ingrateful and arrogant to his neighbors.

Re: Sponsoring a kid?
I think most of these organizations pool money donated for each kid in the community and spend it on the whole community.
