Comp Build, need help selecting vid card for dual monitors.
My comp build is as follows
Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz Raptor 75GB Operating System HD Caviar 250GB 2nd HD 2GB Corsair Ram I think thats all that matters. Anyways. I need to select a video card. I dont need anything extreme for gaming(I will probably never game...), just something decent for movies and what not, and something that will support 2 samsung 204b's. Suggestions? |

Nvidia or Radeon MB? For Nvidia 7600 GT (not GS) at about $115is really good. 6800 XT will do for about $100. Havent looked at Radeon much.

Re: Comp Build, need help selecting vid card for dual monitors.
I often ran systems w/ cheap $15 PCI cards for 2nd/3rd/etc monitors if you have the slots available. If you're not doing 3D stuff/gaming then just about anything still sold new will work. Dual head cards are cool tho, and you could still add a 3rd/4th later using the el cheapo cards.

Dual head cards are cool tho [/ QUOTE ] If you're gonna run Ultramon anyway, is there really any advantage to using a dualhead card? I know they often have nice multi-mon drivers, but Windows+UltraMon is doing better and better at that. -Sam |

Re: Comp Build, need help selecting vid card for dual monitors.
Sam: only advantage besides impressing friends that never saw one before would be if you eventually run as many monitors as you have slots. You'd max out at 1 more monitor per dual card, 3 more per quad card, etc.
Other than that, no reason I can think of. |
