Re: can ribbo fold mid set?
I don't think this hand was played badly by anyway except the MP. Ribbo put him on a missed flush draw, so check-call on the river was the correct play.

Re: can ribbo fold mid set?
It was the correct play against an aggressive player known to bluff missed draws a certain percentage of the time. It would be the wrong play against more passive players or those who would only play with both a flush and straight draw here. The interesting question is whether ribb would have check/folded if the flush came and the guy bet a missed straight draw.

Just felt like posting this because its the rare situation in poker when you're drawing completely dead on the first betting round:

Re: can ribbo fold mid set?
As always, the correct answer is "it depends".
http://www.pokerhand.org/?345511 Should I fold the turn to a raise heads up against a loose aggressive player who clearly puts me on AA? The great thing about poker which the original poster fails to understand, is that there is no problem about making a losing call, or folding a winning hand. The secret is to make sure other people do it more than you do. Indeed if every river call you make is a winner, then you're not calling enough. Still i'm glad me losing a pot amuses you, because I've lost hundred's of thousands of dollars worth of pots on the river. Of course I've won twice as much as what i've lost, that's what makes me a good player. |

Re: can ribbo fold mid set?
Where did I say i had a problem with your hand Ribbo. I was curious to see if everyone else agreed with it that is all. The goal most 2+2 have is to make the best possible call against the villains range and I was only asking if you were doing that. I know you like to argue on the internet but I don't see why you start something where no one wants to argue with you.

Re: Pokerhand.org is gone
There is a very good chance that ribbo played the hand 100% correctly. You saw the crap that the villain (or is it the hero?) in this hand was calling with. Assume you know that the opponent would call with any [censored] draw, (which is what he had in this hand), and would bet the river when checked to, regardless of whether he hit.
Also Jeffman, if you don't want to be accused of being an [censored], you should try less hard to format your posts to make you seem that way. Even if it is directed toward Ribbo |
