$25 Crypto - Getting Aggro / semi bluffing with AK
This is a bit of a departure from my normal style, I'll generally give up on AK unimproved if someone bets into my PFR. UTG+2's flop bet just seemed so weak for someone with aggresive stats that I thought it was worth a go. Question is, was this a good play or Spew?
Reads - UTG - complete fish, shortstacked and playing any 2 cards UTG+2 new to the table, but I have stats from a previous session putting him at 50/14/4 over 40 hands. Cryptologic No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.15/$0.25 10 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $4.93 UTG+1: $22.61 UTG+2: $17.38 MadMat: $31.02 MP2: $25.85 MP3: $9.61 CO: $11.35 Button: $21.95 SB: $5 BB: $12 Pre-flop: (10 players) MadMat is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG raises to $0.5, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, MadMat raises to $4, 5 folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($12.9, 4 players) UTG checks, UTG+2 bets $1.75, MadMat raises to $10, UTG folds, UTG+2 calls. Thinking here, UTG+2's bet feels really weak, and well if he does call I could have as many as 10 outs here! Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($32.9, 3 players) UTG+2 checks, MadMat checks. River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($32.9, 3 players) UTG+2 checks, MadMat checks. |

Re: $25 Crypto - Getting Aggro / semi bluffing with AK
The thing is he will call hoping to improve with any Jack, Queen, or draw on the flop. Then he may feel committed to seeing a showdown on the river. I might make a very weird play here and raise to about $6-8(little more than shorty has).
If he calls, maybe check turn through on a blank. Bet for value if I improve, take it away on river if I don't. |

I'd probably push the river and get called by QK
I like the flop raise. I can't justify a turn bet because almost all hands, even good ones, are going to check to you once you have raised the flop. Bad hands hope you check, good ones hope you check but will call a bet. Great ones hope you bet so they can raise. When he checks both the turn AND river I think he is weak...or a tricky player trying to induce a bluff. I think this is worth a steal attempt on the river. |

I think this is worth a steal attempt on the river. [/ QUOTE ] UTG+2 had about $3 left in a $30 pot, do you really think he's folding anything for $3 on the river? Then again UTG had 93c left when he folded on the flop, awesome laydown! Mat |

I guess reading is now a pre-req for replying to posts.
My bad. If he had a full stack it's worth the steal. As played, nice hand. Maybe less on the flop. |

i like this play in a raised pot, but in a reraised 3way for half your stack its a bit spewy, especially if you don't follow through on the turn or river.
