2/7 TD, How should I play this?
I've got another 2/7 TD question. I was dealt 34578 on the button. Two limpers, and I raised it. Got called by the BB and both limpers. BB drew 2, seat 3 drew 3, seat 4 drew 2. I didn't know whether to draw to my 7 or hold my eight against these draws. In the end I tossed the 8. I figured that in a four way pot I would need better than an 87543 in the end to get the money. I also figured that I had 4 outs three times to hit the nuts in what looked like a pretty big pot, plus I could have always got another eight. Did I make the right play or should I have kept the eight?

Re: 2/7 TD, How should I play this?
The choice is not whether to stand pat or toss the 8, the choice is whether to stand pat or toss the 7. Here, I stand pat and drive until I have reason to believe I am beat. There are at least 13 of the 28 2-8s dead, and you have position, so keep the made hand and drive rather than break and play passively when you don't catch your miricle card. Change the 3 to a 2 and breaking becomes a lot more pallatable.

Re: 2/7 TD, How should I play this?
Ok, I see. If I'm going to improve then I've got a much better shot at it if I toss the 7. I can also see why I should have stayed pat. I guess that there is no reason to toss the best hand...
Thanks. |
