Default Books to get started on stud and stud/8

Hi there,

I play lots of HU holdem but fancy a change, so I'm considering learning stud, and wondered if people had any good book recommendations. I see there is a book by Sklansky, and I have SuperSystem2 (which covers stud/8). I'm primarily interested in HU if this helps.

Any pointers much appreciated,

I don't think there's much material specifically tailored to heads-up, but the best books are 7CS4AP (Sklansky, Malmuth, and Zee) and HLSP4AP (Zee flying solo, although I think he had a translator). The original S/S has a very good stud section, and Todd Brunson's section in SS2 is good as well. You've apparently studied poker some, so there isn't any need for a "beginner's" book, and they suck anyway.

Russ Georgiev made some interesting posts on RGP a while back on shorthanded stud/8. I don't necessarily agree with everything he says, but they may be worth looking up.

Frankly, I don't think stud or stud/8 make very good HU games. I enjoy heads-up hold'em a lot, but stud is more interesting in a full game, I think.
