Default JJ facing a reraise

$5/10 6 max

Hero($1900) dealt J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. One limper..hero raises to $50 UTG plus one. Folded around to sb($1400) who makes it $125. I call and it's HU to the flop.

No read on the villain expect poker ace has him as 32/22.

Flop:6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7c[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
SB leads for $225 into $270 pot.

I make it $500...I plan on folding to a raise all in on the flop and will not put in another dollar unless I improve. Thoughts?

Turn is a low brick. Sb chex I check.

River is another low brick. Sb goes all in for $735...I fold. I know I said I wasnt going to put in another dollar unless I improved but I was getting 3:1($735 to win $2k) on my money...is this chip spewing?

Given stacks/pot size I don't think you can raise the flop like that if you don't plan on seeing a showdown. I fold on the flop unless I have a very strong read there but I would think calling is better than raising. On river I think he has AA/KK at least 2/3 of the time.

why did you raise the flop if you were not going to the felt with this hand? Just call the flop and make a decision on later streets. A flop raise is really bad.

I hate calling a re-raise with JJ preflop. It's a bit better since you have position, but I still either re-raise or fold.

Given how it played out, I fold the river here almost every time.

I like raising flop so that I know where I am here. I raise to $600 figuring I take the pot down more than half the time. If called/raise you are done with the hand. You folded on the river smartly because you are rarely good here. But you can't call reraise if you are only playing the JJ for set value. That is a great flop for you, and you cannot simply fold to his continuation bet.

[/ QUOTE ] Will this kind of reasoning EVER leave the realm of poker? Makes me sick.

Call flop, re-evaluate. Raising this flop = turning your hand into air 99% of the time.
