SH Commerce 1/2. I've been getting so lucky against the BB in this hand. Every SD with him, I am winning. He may be annoyed. He is a TAGish player, I have a great deal of respect for his play and his bets.
Hero has AQo in SB. Preflop: BTN raises, Hero 3bets, BB calls, BTN calls. Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets, BB calls, BTN folds. Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero bets, BB calls. River: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets, BB raises. What's my play here? I'm thinking he can wait til river to raise AK, AJ, 2P. Same thoughts on flopped set. Chances that this is a bluff are slim to none. I raise, he caps. Can I get away with a fold here? Are these the types of folds I should be able to make at this level? |

Just call the river. I think with one pair he would usually raise the flop, so you are looking at a combination here of 2 pair/set/weird straight.

i dont think you should have 3 bet the river and i also dont think you should have posted that he capped the river because that will skew most responses you get.

Definitely not, but I don't think the response that folding the river to the first raise as an option is skewed. The only reason you have to call is because of the annoyance factor of the BB, it could mean he is making a sad play for the pot or poorly raising a worse ace, but when you play a hand this strongly and get popped on the river it's bad news. I would definitely fold to the cap. -Michael |

it's not the worst thing. i mean hero does have top two, not just top pair. it's definitely worth a call, folding for one bet after being raised here playing in that game would be very very very bad. but reraising is a little too loose because it's easy for bb to have a straight or even baby set. |

Damn, I really need to start reading posts right, I thought he had only one pair.

ok, I'm reading now that the board I put up has a 4 card st8. I really only remember the Ace, the Queen, the five, and that there was no flush possible, and no str8 Clearly I've goofed another Hand post.
Sorry, guys. |

oh in that case the way you played it is fine. call the 4 bet (there is no cap), do NOT fold.

Is 3-bet ok there then?

if the board is like AQ257 then yeah of course it is. maybe the guy has a set but who cares, more often than not he'll have two worse pair. 3 bet=easy value. but you must call the river live, dont give these guys the impression you walked in there looking to reraise-fold.
im assuming he had a set of 5 because you remember that card. no problem. you had top two against a set in the hands of a possible tilter. whatever, shiit happens. |
