preflop premuim hands facing a 3bet [6m]
Villain is a solid tagish regular, probably 2+2.
6-handed, hero opens UTG with XX It folds to villain on the button, who makes a pot sized raise. Blinds fold. Give me an ordered triple, e.g. {.33 .33 .33}, of what percent of the time you {fold call raise}, with: AKs, AQs AA, KK, QQ, JJ |

Hi Dust-
Interesting post. Stack sizes are very important in this discussion. Assuming 100bb stacks, a 4bb open and a reraise to 13.5bb I; Against a solid TAG regular: AKs {.66, 0, .33} AQs {1, 0, 0} AA {0, .66, .33} KK {0, .66, .33} QQ {0, 1, 0} JJ {0, 1, 0} |

I like Quark's list. Ditto for me.

Re: preflop premuim hands facing a 3bet [6m]
I see you only 4-bet with AA and KK 33% of the time. Can you explain why? Isn't it better to push these? Isn't NL about getting the money in when you're ahead?
I'm trying to learn, I'm not questioning your post |

Re: preflop premuim hands facing a 3bet [6m]
the villain is TAG and smart. When we 4bet against a good player, we tip our hand and he can get off easy with a hand like QQ. However, bad players rarely notice ANYTHING about what our hand might be, so we can safely 4-bet and get the money in there.

Ok, I see. You'd do this do disguise your hand.
Last few days I've been playing at Pacific, so I should definitely 4-bet these hands |

[ QUOTE ]
does anybody flat call with AKs a nontrivial % of the time? [/ QUOTE ] Dust- I sometimes will, especially if I have been playing very aggressively at the table (40/20 or something like that) and feel that I am being 3-bet lightly. I will also call with a hand like 86s or worse, sometimes a hand as good as JTs. Also, how I rate vs. this player post-flop will often factor into my preflop decisions. If I have a strong read on this player (particularly if he is very ABC) I am more apt to smooth-call with a hand like AKs. |

I actually didn't notice that part of quark's list, and I differ there.
I will almost always see a flop in this situation, hoping to hit an A (I will 18% of the time). Anytime I hit an A, I know I'm good. I'm probably {50, 30, 20} for AKs |

Re: preflop premuim hands facing a 3bet [6m]
I certainly agree that if he's ABC, a flat call preflop is probably correct. The problem lies against tricky tags, who are good and will move you off your hand if you give them cause.
