Default NL 1K - AQ oop

8-handed 1K nl table, villain in this hand is a winning regular who seems to play pretty straightforward poker but i think is capable of making moves every now and then. I seem to always get into trouble with these so any advices whatsoever very much appreciated.

Folded to button with 1K who limps in, hero in the sb (with 900) makes it 50 to go with AQo, bb folds and button calls. Flop A82r, hero bet 80 into the 110 pot, button calls. Turn 7r, hero checks and calls 145. River T, hero checks and button bets 300, hero?

PF/Flop and Turn look good.

I would block river.

As played.... I guess you should fold, as I really doubt he's value betting worse than AK here, and it's pretty damn unlikely that he is bluffing.

I agree -- I smell pocket 88 or 77 here, and prefer a blocking bet on the river. Did he show?

I think it's pretty obv you're making a blocker bet if you c/c turn and lead riv. But then again he has to be thinking on the 18th level to pick that one off.

As played fold river. I would lead turn, say about $200. If villian calls/raises I think you can assume you're beat. Either way I check river and probably fold to any sizable bet. I think this is better than c/c turn and doing whatever on the river because that line encourages villian bluffs. At the same time betting the turn and check folding is pretty weak. Unless villian is real aggressive, I doubt he bets a river that beats you. Hmmmm, being oop sucks.

id rather lead the turn and check river and call a reasonable bet

i dont think we can be afraid of AK or 88, as wouldnt this straightforward player have raised on the button with said hands?

then again, who the hell open limps on the button
