Why did you c/c the turn? What did that tell you about his hand? Nothing that you didn't already know, that's for sure. Betting $4 on the turn and folding to a raise is much better than c/c turn and betting $4 blindly on the river.

He has to realize that you'll probably fold the $4 river bet to any pressure after c/c-ing the turn. He probably puts you on a busted straight/2nd or 3rd pair at that point.

The idea was that if he had a draw, say a 10x, it hit him on the turn.
So, why help him build a big pot?
By bettion on the 4-th street we rarely get value from hands that are behind, and we don't want to play a big pot. Betting to defend our hand on the turn is not good for me, because we are already ahead or behind.
River - a kind of a blocking bet to get value from single K or Q and fold to a stronger hand

Broadway misses if he doesn't have the 10. That read doesn't make sense with the way he played the hand, though; I misread the board.

I still think the villain puts him on something pretty weak after the c/c and small river bet. The line looks like a PFR and cont bet; when he c/c's the turn, it looks like a beatable pair and easily pushed off the hand.

You're contradicting yourself. You're saying you don't wanna build a pot, which I agree with, because you're ahead or behind. But then you wanna block the river to get value from a K or a Q? If you bet the turn, he's gonna call with a K or a Q, and he's gonna raise with a hand that beats us, and we can fold if he raises. Then we can check the river through, and fold if he bets pretty big.

say he has a 10 and the turn card hits him... wouldn't he like to call a bet on the turn and raise a river in position?
This line can bring a value for Vilalin, becouse if Hero bets on the turn, and Villain just calls with a 10, he will probably be able to get some more chips from Hero on the river. But many hands in Hero's range will fold to a turn raise and Villain gains little value with a straight
