75$ FTP: 6-handed, tough spot with 7\'s preflop
I have pretty little experience playing 6-handed mtts, and It's a serious leak of mine that I have no clue what the standard line here.
I realise that it's a really read dependant situation, but villian just got moved to the table. Full Tilt Poker, NL Hold'em Tournament, 120/240 Blinds, 25 Ante, 6 Players LeggoPoker Hand History Converter BTN: 4,010 SB: 4,835 BB: 4,330 UTG: 4,838 MP: 4,905 Hero (CO): 7,620 Pre-Flop: (510) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (CO) UTG raises to 720, hero ??? |

Just fold, no reason to get in a pissing contest, and you'll have a read soon.

Re: 75$ FTP: 6-handed, tough spot with 7\'s preflop
Ugh... I fold. Here's why:
1. Villain only has 20 BBs so the implied odds aren't great for calling for set value. 2. He's new to the table so, without further knowledge, you have to respect a UTG raise. 3. Everyone still to act has a great stack for a resteal-squeeze. I wouldn't berate anyone for pushing here though. But I think a fold is better. |

Re: 75$ FTP: 6-handed, tough spot with 7\'s preflop
I Like a fold here too. You are the big stack at the table so there's no reason to jeapordize this advantage in a marginal spot where you don't have any info on your opponent.
As you said this is a very read dependant situation, it may feel odd folding a fairly strong hand like this against a shorter stack in position. But the fact is you have no idea where you are in the hand and will in all liklihood face a large continuation bet on a flop containing overcards to your pair if you call or find urself up against an over pair if you push. |

Re: 75$ FTP: 6-handed, tough spot with 7\'s preflop
if we push we have some fe and we prob have the best hand.id opt for the more aggro approach here 6 handed. it looks like ak,aq and may push out ace hi hands or kq.if we lose we can still be a factor w a double up

We might get KQ,AX and small pocket pairs to fold (heck, he might even fold 88). To those people saying fold, what range would you push with? |

8's are def a shove. 7's are close, but if we ran the numbers i bet they'd say shove as well, if only by a little. I feel good folding 6's here.
Anyone good with pstove in spots like this? |

Re: 75$ FTP: 6-handed, tough spot with 7\'s preflop
As often - it depends
Against an UGT-raise 6max I would fold 77 here if it is a straightforward player with a range something like that. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 57.456% 56.81% 00.65% 682850976 7790502.00 { 66+, AJs+, KQs, QJs, AJo+, KQo } Hand 1: 42.544% 41.90% 00.65% 503605428 7790502.00 { 77 } and against this range we might not have enough FE for a shove. with 88 it gets much better equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 53.988% 53.35% 00.64% 641284464 7669542.00 { 66+, AJs+, KQs, QJs, AJo+, KQo } Hand 1: 46.012% 45.37% 00.64% 545413860 7669542.00 { 88 } |

it looks like ak,aq [/ QUOTE ] Um, how exactly can you say this given that he's new to the table? When estimating ranges, use your head, not your heart. |
