Highstakes Turbo Tournaments (F.A.O. Pokerstars)
Highstakes Turbo Tournaments – FAO Pokerstars
Question: How could Pokerstars get highstake tournament players (the players that bring in the most rake) to play 1 extra tournament a session? Since most players are already playing the maximum number of tournament they are comfortable with for the amount to time that they wish this is difficult to implement. Answer: Pokerstars could add a “2nd chance” highstake turbo tournament WITH GUARANTEES after peak hours (8pm gmt, 8pm est). If this was implemented players can add this extra tournament towards the end of their session while they are not playing many games. Pokerstars could generate even more rake by creating satalites for them too. This is not an idea that I thought off, it is one used by many other poker sites. The sites that have a highstake turbo tournament a couple of hours after the peak time of 8pm GMT are as follows… 17:00 Party Poker “$10k gtd Speed” $120 17:15 OnGame “Turbo Shorthanded” $108 17:45 Ladbrokes “Daddy Turbo $6k gtd” $109 18:00 Full Tilt “Turbo $20k gtd” $216 An idea for buyin and time could be… $150 + rake turbo at 18:00 EST $200 + rake turbo at 22:00 EST These times seem that they would be a good option since they are 2 – 3 hours after peak tournament times, and currently you do not offer highstake games at this time (just $10r and $5r). Another idea would be or start them off with smaller buyins on Monday and make them get larger each day of the week all the way through till Saturday. Say. 18:00est 22:00est Monday $50 & $75 Tuesday $75 & $100 Wednesday $100 & $150 Thursday $150 & $200 Friday $200 & $300 Saturday $500 & $300 The advantage for this system would be that u has a high buyin tournament every day of the week (besides Monday, but the full tilt $1k brings in the players for you already). Saturday afternoons carry the highstakes traffic rather then the evenings so why not have a highstakes turbo. Some people might just want to play 1 game then go out for the night also. Another really simple thing that Pokerstars could implement would be to change the $109/45 SNG’s to turbos (from regular level times) and stick them in the main lobby. The never fill at the moment, and if u look at the highstakes 18man’s it is nearly always the turbos that fill rather then the non turbos. Look at the success of the $60/45’s turbos and the $12/180’s turbos. JayPez |

I think it's a great idea because turbos attract donks. A 200 dollar turbo at 22:00 sounds delicious. It would be a last chance gamble for anyone working 9-5.
