5NL: QJs flops two pair on a coordinated board
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (7 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
UTG ($11.72) MP1 ($15.79) MP2 ($9.95) CO ($0.29) Hero ($4.93) SB ($18.56) BB ($9.15) Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP2 raises to $0.1, CO calls $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, 1 fold, BB calls $0.05. Flop: ($0.42) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, MP2 bets $0.1, CO raises to $0.19, Hero ... Not quite the flop I was hoping for when I called. BB here is a pretty horrible player that will play big pots with pretty marginal hands. CO lost a big pot a few hands earlier and hasn't reloaded, so he may just be looking to stack off and leave. No read on MP2. What's our move? |

Re: 5NL: QJs flops two pair on a coordinated board
A bump in hope of encouraging some comment.
I often feel like I'm not sure how to play hands like this on coordinated flops. With a weaker hand I could find a fold pretty easily on the basis that even if I'm ahead, I'm giving some unpleasant reverse implied odds, while with a set or stronger clearly I'm trying to get all the money in. In terms of hand-reading, how much should I widen the range I put opponents on on coordinated flops where they may be pushing a draw? Can I call and re-evaluate a safe turn? Is just folding here too weak? |
